Listening In
I’ve been quiet lately, as a great deal has been going on. In an effort to start blogging a bit more, and thanks to inspiration from @ViolaMaths’s blog ayearwithmyears.blogspot.com, I thought it might be entertaining – for me at least – to document what I listen to. Today it’s been:
- “Oppens Plays Carter” – Ursula Oppens playing the complete piano music of Elliott Carter
- The Wedding Present – Tommy. Glorious scratchy ultra-fast guitars from 1985-87
- The Wedding Present – Seamonsters (remastered). The Steve Albini production job is still utter nonsense, but I’m convinced there may have been some remixing as Gedge’s singing is at least moderately audible in places now.
- Von Südenfed – Tromatic Reflexxions
- Babyshambles – Down in Albion
- Anna Netrebko – Souvenirs
- The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart (s/t EP)
- Papal Visit – Police in Hampshire (EP)
- Michael Finnissy – Red Earth. As far as Finnissy is concerned, I’m never entirely sure how well-clothed the Emperor is, but I generally like the way his music sounds regardless.
- Motörhead – Ace of Spades – a fine way to end the day.
